EPDM is the base material for EPDM granules. As a matrix material, EPDM holds everything together and is the main component that gives EPDM granules their properties and durability.
The inorganic natural filler calcium carbonate (commonly known as chalk) affects among others the haptic experience of the finished EPDM granules, ensures optimal adhesion of the polyurethane binder and enhances the weight and volume properties of the granules.
Sulfur creates links between the single hydrocarbon chains of the EPDM and thus ensures the stable cross-linking of an EPDM granule. This cross-linking results in a stable, resistant and very elastic product.
Paraffinic oil serves as a processing aid and for regulating the hardness of the finished granules.
Depending on the requirements for certain properties, such as UV stabilization or fire-retardant properties, these substances are added.
The foaming agent gives the granules a foamed structure and thus an outstanding bulk density.
The BSG is based on the new and innovative foaming technology “SCP Tech”, which gives the granules excellent damping properties for maximum impact protection.
The higher volume of the BSG base layer granules compared to non-foamed granules mean:
Better fall protection values with the same material consumption
Less material and binder requirements for the same fall protection effect
Our base layer granules are 100% REACH compliant. This means that they meet the strict requirements of the EU Chemicals Regulation. Important for use on children’s playgrounds!
100% virgin EPDM granules made by GEZOLAN. This means that it has not yet gone through a life cycle and comes from controlled production. Only high-quality raw materials are used for production and it can be optimally manufactured for the intended application.

SCP stands for “Swiss Cheese Principle”: similar to Swiss cheese, each individual granulate has tiny air holes / vents. This unique foam structure gives the EPDM base layer granules excellent damping properties and a high degree of flexibility. Thanks to the SCP technology, BSG granules are ideal for fall protection surfaces and guarantee maximum fall protection on children’s playgrounds.

The virgin EPDM granules were specially developed as base layer granules in fall protection systems. They are therefore ideally suited as a component in systems where special requirements are placed on force reduction. It therefore offers the highest level of fall protection exactly where it is needed most: on children’s playgrounds.
The BSG granules are processed on site with a polyurethane binder to form a seamless, elastic base layer.
In addition to our EPDM base layer granules especially for fall protection systems, we also offer black recycled rubber granules. This material consists exclusively of excess material from industrial production. It is as good as new and is obtained directly after production. In this way, it passes extensive control processes and comes from traceable sources.
Recycling granules with outstanding properties
As opposed to many alternative products, GEZOLAN offers recycled rubber granules made from excess material of industrial production processes that is as good as new. Conventional recycled rubber granules have already gone through at least one product life cycle (e.g. as motor vehicle tires) and as a result may have lost their positive properties in terms of elasticity and UV resistance. Since GEZOLAN uses granules made from industrial scrap material that has never been in use, the mechanical and technical properties are identical to that of a new product.
GEZOLAN recycled rubber granules are only available in the color Black.
Typical Fields of application of recycled granules
GEZOLAN recycled granules are primarily used for installation of elastic and base layers for athletics tracks, sports and leisure surfaces such as multifunctional sports surfaces and basketball courts, fall protection surfaces and artificial turf pitches.
